Key research area "Dictatorships, Violence, Genocides"
"Dictatorships, Violence, Genocides" is a key research area of the Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies at the University of Vienna. The research focuses on the emergence and enforcement of violent regimes, but also on the social impact of the experience of war and mass murder beyond the end of the regimes. Particular attention is paid to the era of fascism and Stalinism, National Socialism and the Holocaust, which – as well as their pre- and post-history – is examined from the perspectives of political, legal, economic, social, cultural and gender history.
